video In PP ???

Hello,

I have a slide show with video clip as part of the presentation in a folder. A subfolder holds all the video clips. When I move the folder to another computer or put on a jump drive, the path changes and the videos do not work. How can I make it so the path always points to the subfolder where the presentation is located?

It's not a good idea to put your email address in the window.

Consider putting the files in to the same folder as the ppt itself and that should work.

But the articles sugest it can be done without coding so that's what I prefer. :whistle:

There is a different approach that you may wish to consider.

The problem you outlined is not unique either to you or to PowerPoint. I have lots of applications where subfolders are referenced (help files are a good example) and I invariably then change the location. To solve this lack of discipline on my part, I established a location where I keep a single file (a spreadsheet) containing "location" information for lots of different folders, libraries, etc. I then have a few utility subs that can be called from any application to get the current location of "whatever". When I change the location of some stuff, I simply update the single spreadsheet.

This approach works quite well for a single computer/user. It is also pretty good for a networked environment as long as consistent rules are followed.

I actually use this approach more broadly than "file/folder locations".

That sollution sounds nice...but like I said this problem could be solved without any code IMO....

No code is still the prefered method for me but a update script is a nice sollution too! :whistle:
