As in one who created the workbook or one who contributes to the workbook

Excel unfortunately doesn't offer any real protection of its workbooks. Microsoft has been aware of this failing and to date hasn't been able to overcome this issue.

For short term protection, you could have a splash screen that works on opening the workbook, but once another person gets past excels limited security then they could simply remove the splash screen.

Or, you could enter your details into a cell and protect the cell, but again a determined person can get past excels security and remove your details.

Or, you may write some code that adds your "Created by" to the title of the workbook when workbook is opened, and removed on closure.

These are simple short term concepts. Others may have longer term such as encryption of data, but eventually someone will break it down if they are determined enough I guess

Thanks Aussiebear, I agree with your opinions.

It's quite hard to protect data nowadays. :)
