I was trying to set up a template file that opens from the XLStart folder when I open Excel 2013, Windows 7.

The template file is a macro-enabled file, CalcPad.xlsm.

When I open Excel by double-clicking the Excel icon, it opens the file that is in the XLStart folder and then says that the file is already open. "Reopening will cause any changes you made to be discarded. Do you want to reopen CalcPad.xlsm?"

Save the file as a .xlam (add-in) file and I get the same problem.

I have also tried to change the file type to a template, CalcPad.xltm. When I open Excel, nothing is opened; it reverts back to a blank document.

I am trying to have the macro-enabled template file used as a base file when I open Excel as if I were to open a blank document then File>From Template. What am I doing incorrectly?
