Recore new macro tool - automatically start on opening

I'm a teacher and my students sometimes caused excel to do funny things. I want my workbooks to automatically start recording a macro on opening so if something goes wrong, the student can save the workbook and I can then go back and step through what happened. Does anyone know how to start the "Record New Macro" tool off of the tools menu?

I think recording is a manual process. You cant make a macro to start a macro.
