so we have a client with 4 or 5 machines.

all of them were connected and working fine then yesterday one of the machines just stopped connecting to the SQL database while all the other machines still connect fine.

I have tried everything I can think off, I reset the cliconfg, turned off the firewall, anti virus, restarted the machine, restarted the server. removed the machine from the domain, re added it. ran spybot search and destroy just in case.....

I can't even seem to telnet to port 1433.... but as mentioned this WAS working and the other machines are still fine...

anything else people can suggest?

I have to assume that it still connects to the network and such.
I would look into the firewall and make sure the ports are open.

sorry for the delay!

yes the machine can still access the shares on the server and we have tried disabling the fire walls on both the worksttion and the server (just in case even though all the other machines can still connect). and still the machine wont even recognize that there is an sql server there.... (as aposed to not being able to log in to it).

Waiting to hear back if they can re install windows on that machine as I am out of ideas.

When you install Visual Studio, the free version, it will install a compact version of SQL server. You should be able to see it then. The reason I am saying this is something during the install makes you computer see the SQL server. So if you have a clue what that could be, you should be able to fix it from there. I will research it and see what I can come up with.
