This is am interesting new feature stating with Access 2007. You can add Totaling to a form in datasheet mode. In the past you had to use a form in continuous mode and add controls to the form footer to get totals.

1) First open the form directly (not as a sun form) in form view.
2) On the home tab select Totals in the Records group to turn on the total row.
3) Click in the empty cell in the total row below the column you want to add a type of Total select it from the drop down list. Repeat for additional columns as needed..

From a UI standard for the user I prefer the totals stay in the same place so I still use a form in continuous view mode and use controls in the form footer. I find this a better UX. From my UX testing I have not found the method are asking about to be as good as a fixed position form footer.
