I have created a workbook that I would like to open when I launch excel 2013.I am trying to save the workbook/template in the excel start folder, but I receive the following error message

c:\program files\Microsoft office 15\root\office 15\EXSTART\book.xltx

you don't have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission

As I am working on my own laptop what must I do to allow this file to be saved in the start up folder.

Try saving it in your XLSTART folder

C:\Users\<userid>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART\

This is 2010 but probably the same

run excel as administrator...

mostly you can do this by right clicking the shortcut on desktop.

here is an example:

Right click on

C:\Users\<userid>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART\

and look at the [Security] tab and [Advanced].

Check the Owner and also your permissions.

2013 might create or change things.

Don't have 2013 so this is a guess based on 2010
