I was wondering if there was some way I can copy a conditional format from one row to another with out having to update all of the rules for the new row to reflect the updated reference cell.
I have rows 5 thru 8 set but I ultimately want to get up to 500 rows. To do each rule it takes roughly 10 mins per column to adjust when I just copy and special paste formatting.
:banghead:
Thank you.

If you go into the CF, you should be able to update the range that the CF is applied to.

That is what is taking so long, I was hoping there was some code I could input to have the system updated the rules for me.

Long? Changing say $A$1 to $A$1:$A$10 takes a long time?

I set up the rules for a row, and then copy and paste special formatting and then have to go to each rule for the new line to update the rule to change the formating.
example:
=$A$1="Y" $A$1:$T$1 = row rules
=$A$1="Y" $A$2:$T$1 = copied rules
I have to go update copied rule to =$A$2="Y" for all the rules pertaining to that row (about 20 rules for each row), need to do 500 rows.
This is what I mean by taking so long. I have to edit each conditional format for specific blocks.
That is what I was asking if there was a quicker way to update the rules not the applied to.

No, you select all 500 rows, row 1 first, and use
=$A1="Y"
notice, no $ before the 1
