Is there a limitation of the number of characters an excel-cell can hold?
I have a large cell formatted with "text" and "word wrap" and want to use it for input of longer texts.
When I write more than 255 characters the cell shows "#########".
Is there a way to change that?

Is there a way to change that? What version of excel are you using? I know that (at least) Excel 97 through Excel 2000 can hold 32,000 characters in a cell - funny, cause I just read that today at work  - but some formulas will not handle cells that contain more than 255 characters of text.

And definitely take a look at that link that Zack posted :thumb Good Stuff

I'm using Office XP. I've found an article on MSDN about the limitations of Excel 2000. There it's been said that the maximum number of chars in a cell is about 32000 and 1024 of them can be displayed in the cell.

But with "my" excel I get that "#######" after 255 chars.

That is because it cannot all be displayed in lieu of the column width.
