Can i get a word comment to format as below?

1 a line
2 a new line
3 another new line

Sorry, hit the send too fast. Because if you do mean in the comment ballon itself....uh, gee have you tried typing normally? Type a line, press the Enter key, and type the second line, press Enter, type the third line. Works like a charm....

Gerry,

What im doing is highlighting a line of text, and adding a comment to it,

hitting enter does not work using that method (Word2000)

Hi Gibbo,

The popup tooltip-like text of comments does not reproduce line breaks (on any version of Word). The comments in the comments pane or in the balloons of later versions do all reproduce them, as does printing. So it all depends on how you look at your comments (providing you put the line breaks in, of course).

Ah, that is why I asked if it was for balloons. I did not know about no line breaks in the popups, as I do not use them. That is what I get for not asking about the version being used.
