Hello All,

Like may of you I have been unable to get the much loved Smart Indenter add-in (http://www.oaltd.co.uk/Indenter/) by Rob Bovey and Stephen Bullen to work on Office 2016 64 bit.

While searching for alternatives I have found, and are using Andrew Engwirda's VBA Code Indenter and Highlighting VBA Code (http://andrewexcel.blogspot.com.au/2015/07/vba-code-indenter-and-highlighting-vba.html).

During my searching I have found various posts where people have put forward methods of how to get it to work and during one of my searches I stumbled across a free, open-source COM add-in called Rubberduck (http://rubberduckvba.com/).
The Features link says that...

The original author and current maintainer of the popular Smart Indenter add-in have graciously offered the latest version of their source code to the Rubberduck project. Thanks to Rob Bovey and Stephen Bullen, Rubberduck 2.0 will have the smartest automagic indentation built-in.

Has anyone used this add-in and is a viable alternative to Smart Indenter. I know nothing about this project and are seeking any comments people can offer.

Regards,
Dave T

Hello All,

Another one I have found....

On Ron de Bruin's site (http://www.rondebruin.nl/win/dennis/codemanager.htm) Dennis Wallentin has a new program called Code Manager for MS Excel.
Both Rubberduck and Code Manager say they are free.

Has anyone used either of these programs and can provide any sort of feedback ???
How do they compare to the older Smart Indenter ???

Regards,
Dave T

I'm curious if you ever settled on an indenter that you like? I'm going to be forced to upgrade to 64bit Excel 2016 soon and will face the same dilemma. Giving up Rob Bovey and Stephen Bullen's Smart Indenter will be painful. MZ-Tools has a code indenter, but it is weak sauce compared to Smart Indenter. Rubberduck looks interesting, but all the stuff it wants to install to support unit testing gives me pause.

Hello rlv,

I really liked Smart Indenter as it worked on Word as well as Excel.
I have tried Dennis Wallentin's Code Manager (http://dailydoseofexcel.com/archives/2016/12/12/introducing-code-manager/) on my home computer, but until I see more testing and feedback from users of Rubberduck, I have not tried that yet.
The link above also contains various comments about Code Manager & Rubberduck as alternatives Smart Indenter.

Due to administrator restrictions at work I have been forced to use Andrew Engwirda's VBA code indenter add-in (https://andrewexcel.blogspot.com.au/search?q=code+indent), which I must admit I quite like as an alternative.
