Outlook Calendar In Excel

does anyone know how to make a outlook calendar visable in excel? and to update that calendar through excel

Why avoiding Outlook ?

basically I have created a holiday request spreadsheet, but I wanted the users to see what had been booked and not booked in the calendar. to avoid them blindly requesting holidays.
