I have a DB that works with records that contain many fields. The master value (Document Number) is in the first column of a subform in the main form. The problem I have is that then the user scrolls to the right to see the data they lose sight of the the master value in column 1.

Is there functionality such as Excel's freeze panes that will allow me to lock the first column in place while allowing the users to horizontally scroll the remaining fields?

Thanks, This will definitely work, but I really don't want my users editing the data in a datasheet view. The table has a lot of data that the users don't need to see or edit. I would prefer to control what the see and edit via a form. Is there a way to accomplish this same thing in forms and/or subforms?

I commonly use a form in continuous view for what you want to do exactly what yu want.

It is possible to use a form/sub form in datasheet view and still limit what records and/or fields the user sees just like with a form in continuous view. Datasheet view of a form does have some Excel like features like changing column widths, hiding columns, etc.
