One of my old co-workers created a custom ribbon icon from an XLAM file that would appear on your xl ribbon when you opened it and after you exited the excel spreadsheet it would disappear. I have tried looking at his macro code to no avail. I know how to add ribbon items permanently but not temporarily. Any thoughts?

It's in the CustomUI part of the workbook. Check out Ron de Bruin's site for a wealth of information (www.rondebruin.nl)

Is there another way to do this besides downloading the customUI tool. (I don't have permissions on my computer to do this...) If you would like to see what the file looks like please let me know and I can try to send a copy of the xlam document to you.
