Excel Formula full update?

Hi Folks

I'm currently going mad on an issue with updating formulas...

For example (pic below) i've formated this 2nd column with a short date format like 26.6.17 instead of 26.06.2017.

However, nothing happens until i activate the formula bar and hit enter very aggressively :) then it works. but now, the list is long, this can't be the right way to do it

I don't understand why recalculating doesn't do the trick,...and the date problem is just an example

Find an empty cell, enter a 1 into it and hit control+c
Select the dates, press F5, special, check constants and select text.
Choose Paste Special and choose multiply.
