View Full Version : Excel pivot fields recognition issue

Hi All,
Perhaps you were already confronted with the same issue, and I hope you can help.
Issue: excel doesn’t always recognizes the values entries as values in a pivot but when selecting a “field to add to report” it sends to “ROWS” instead of “VALUES”.
Is this something which can be solved with formatting the source data? The strange thing is that sometimes it recognizes and sends the entries to the VALUES field but sometimes not.
If we only have 5 entries, it is ok, you can move manually and convert from count to sum, but when having 50 or more entries, this becomes quite time consuming.
So, below an example
This is the source data:

The pivot: Selected month sales for Jun - Oct goes to ROWS. When pulling into the “VALUES” field instead of selecting it, it appears as “Count”
I found a VBA how to transform “count” into “sum”, but optimal would be that excel recognizes the entries automatically. I already tried various date formats, but no success.
