Conditional Format of Word Content Control Drop down

Hi Newbie here from the UK, am currently banging my head about issues with Word in 365 and adding colour to drop down lists depending on list item chosen text is black and background changes colour to highlight answer chosen i.e. red background for Fail and green for Pass, I have seen some previous posts and tried them but to no avail so going round and round in ever decreasing circles with increasuing frustration :crying::banghead::crying::banghead::crying::banghead:
