Hello,

i found this code on the net which i want to use to paste an image from the clipboard into an image control in word.
When i try to compile the code, i get the following error on line:

Method or object not found.
lngReturn = OpenClipboard(Application.hWnd)

.hWnd gets highlighted.


Does anyone know why this is not working?
I am using Office 2016 64bit

Those are 32 bit API's. They need to be converted to 64 bit. You can google each one of them to find conversion code. HTH. Dave

Thanks Dave for pointing that out.
I googled for a conversion of these API's and found something.
When i now compile the code i don't get any errors.

But i ran into another problem.
I want to use this code to paste a image from the clipboard to a image control inside a word form.

I created a ActiveX Image control in my word document.

In ThisDocument i simply use a DblClick SubRoutine to get the image from the clipboard to the image control.

When i set a breakpoint on the DblClick Sub and step through the code, it runs just fine and finishes on End Sub, but it doesn't seem to actually draw an image.
I dont understand these API's quite enough to find out what the problem might be.
Could it be that i am using these API's in the wrong way to make them work with the image control?
The image control requires a actual bitmap file, so i assume that it would need to be created first.
I thought the API's would to that.

I have attached a zip file which contains the .pdf file with the images am trying to paste into the image control and a test form with a image control.
The pictures in the pdf are on page 2-3.

Could someone take a look at this?
I really wonder why it is not drawing the copied picture. :think:

EDIT: btw: I am using Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the .PDF files and right click / copy the image i want to paste.

I've used this code in XL but am unable to get it to work for Word? I would also change the...

My 32 bit installation was still running the 64 bit code (U don't have the code for 32 bit functions) but I added it and tried it and I'm just not sure that this code works for Word documents? There were no errors and it seemed that it was working but no pic was placed in the image control. Good luck. Dave

Hello Dave,

thanks or pointing out the errors in the code.
I had to use VBA7, for me Win64 doesn't work.

Sadly, even with the changes, the code still doesn't work. Neither in Word or Excel.
I created a image control directly in a table and in a userform in Excel.
Added buttons to trigger the paste picture function.
The code runs through but still does not paste a picture in to the image controls.

Any further ideas what could be wrong here?

Hi Manuel. This works for me with an image control placed on a Word document. It works for my 32 bit instal but I have no way of testing the 64 bit installation.

Awesome Dave, it works now!
I somewhat lost hope that it would work, but in the end it does.
Pasting images directly into the image controls, instead saving them on the hdd first, is a huge time-saver.

Thank you very much for your time and effort in getting this to work!
