Has anyone else seen this?
VBAExpress.com stocks at Alexadex.com (http://www.alexadex.com/ad/index.py?page=url&url=vbaexpress.com)

Granted, they are virtual stocks, where the price is determined by traffic rankings as determined by Alexa.com (http://www.alexa.com), but it's still kinda cool!

VBAExpress is @ $30/share.

My website (http://www.alexadex.com/ad/index.py?page=url&url=accessdb.info) is at $6/share.

For some perspective, Microsoft.com is at $64,1000/share!!

Just thought that some other memebers with websites might be interested in checking out their own website!

Paleo,

A website's "stock" value is based on traffic rankings from Alexa.com (http://www.alexa.com).

Alexa explains how traffic rankings are determined here;
http://pages.alexa.com/prod_serv/traffic_learn_more.html

Basically, Alexa depends on people using their Alexa toolbar (http://pages.alexa.com/prod_serv/quicktour.html) (which BTW can be customized for your own site - see here (http://pages.alexa.com/prod_serv/associatetoolbar.html)). As people surf, it sends data to Alexa that it uses to calculate the traffic statistics which it then turns into a traffic ranking.

I don't use the toolbar myself so I can't tell you anything other than what is on the page about it. I've thought about creating a custom Alexa toolbar, but haven't had time to look at it, much less try to come up with a logo (which would probably be crappy anyway!).

Hope that helps!

We have had issues with Alexa before. They rated our site after about a year of being out and gave us a very poor rating, also stating false and misleading information (i.e. broken links, not found in searches, etc). I gave up on Alexa at that time. The idea is pretty cool though.

Well considering this I gave up on Alexa also...
