When I change the layout of open windows in the VBA editor (sizes & positions, or cascade/tile), then save, close and re-open the file, the layout changes are all lost. How do I make them stick?

I seriously doubt that Microsoft would allow you (a User) access into their procedural code to do this.

Thanks for your reply. I thought the sizes and positions of open windows would be saved automatically, or there would be an option for doing this manually. My question might have been unclear, and I don't fully understand your answer, but it appears you are saying it can't be done.

I can't find any comments that suggest that it can be done. Undocking of the individual segments and resizing comments are freely available on the net but no one is talking about saving their setups as far as I been able to find.

I don't know what you mean by segments and comments. We may be talking about different things. I will try to rephrase my question to clarify what I am asking about.

There is no need to rephrase your question. Segments are the individual windows that make up the Visual Basic Editor, and Resizing Comments relate to adjusting the windows to your preferred sizing. Any reasonable search on the net will find comments made by individuals relating to undocking and resizing, but none are made relating to saving the format. I can't make it any clearer than that.

Do you have pictures or videos when the error occurred?
