Okay, maybe not vacation, but I think it'll be fun. Next week I get to go to Nevada for fire training. Check it out here:

It'll be a loooong week, but it should prove to be a kick. :yes

We're testing new turnout gear and airpacks, so we convinced some of the vendors to lend us their equipment to test out. Because if we like theirs, that's what we'll purchase. :devil2:

I tried that same logic with a local beer distributor, but since it was only for eventual personal use they didn;t think I needed the free samples.

Have fun Zack.

Got back last Friday night. All I can say is WOW! What a blast! I have some pictures I'll post them when I get them uploaded. The props were great. The school uses a diesel/hexane 70/30% mix, and they get hot!

It was cold down there. The entire time the burn props are going the sprinklers are going directly over the props. They do not put the fire out as we are dealing with a flammable liquid coming out at 80 psi through a quarter inch orifice. We'd be soaking wet and it would turn to ice by the time we got out of the prop (each prop took approx 20-25 min). A couple of people looked like human popsicles! LOL! But it was a good time. These are the props we used ...

http://fireacademy.unr.edu/PumpRow.htm (the hottest one we did)

http://fireacademy.unr.edu/trilevelprocess.htm (only the tri-level prop)
http://fireacademy.unr.edu/LPGProp.htm (the only propane prop)
http://fireacademy.unr.edu/GasPlant.htm (the most difficult one)

Hey Zack,
Those pictures look like practice for fighting fires in refineries. Spent most of my life in them and chemical plants. We had our share of close calls and fires but we always ran.....never wanted to be there when things got out of control.

YES! Now that's what I've been telling Zack for ages! Smart people run when they see fire... AWAY! :rotlaugh: I've always thought there's a little something wrong upstairs when you feel the need to run into a fire. ;)

(Glad you're doing it though!) :thumb

ROFL!! Hey, somebody's gotta do it. ;)

Steve: Yes, that's just about exactly what it is: Industrial Fire Fighting. We went down with our local Coal Fired Plant fire brigade. So that's where the props are geared towards. :yes

Truth is they instruct invited construction people to evacuate to a pre-arranged area. Important to make sure everyone is out. They have very professional fire fighters who know the equipment and know what they are doing. It wouldn't be safe or benificial to stay anyway, probably just get in the way.(not that I ever gave them the option)
