Hi All,

Question:

Is there a way to link (attach) an AutoText entry to a specific WordDocument located on a shared drive? The users could call his/her own copy to use and use the AutoText Entry.

Thanks so much for your help.

Yes.

I do not have ANY of my AutoText in normal.dot - the, uh, normal place for them.

I put my AutoText into their own template file - myAutoText.dot. This can be loaded (or not) as a global template which makes the entries available. Sooooooo.

1. Move (or Copy) your AutoText into a new template file.
2. Save that template file to the shared drive.
3. Have anyone who wants to use it load it as a global template. To do this:

4. Tools > Templates and Addins, and then select Add, browse to the folder (on the shared drive) with the template, and then OK.

Voila! Any AutoText in that template are available, just like any other AutoText.

If you want a global template to automatically be loaded it must be in the Startup folder on the machine. Or, you could have code in normal.dot (or any other template being used) that will load a global.
