Last night I took part in the Closing Ceremony for the Melbourne Commonwealth Games.
We've spent the last 3 months turning up to rehearsals in the middle of a paddock, miles from anywhere, spending most of the time sitting around and bitching about the bad coffee. But last night ...
I have to say it was a huge rush. How often do you get to step out in front of an 80,000+ crowd wearing a purple wig and ornate pink glasses? I was one of over 900 Dame Ednas (for those of you not acquainted with Edna, she cannot be described, only experienced).
It was a night that I don't think I'll forget in a hurry. Even having to hobble through the routine on the ankle I sprained a few days ago didn't matter - I'm still feeling the buzz!
I know most of you from the US wouldn't have had much interest in this, but it's been great to take even a small part in such an event.
