Starting Another "Instance" of Excel

In my quest to understand the "out of resources" message described in a thread below, one reference suggested that it might help to start a separate "instance" of Excel. If one has a workbook open, how does one start another Excel "instance" in order to open another workbook? :dunno

Call Shell("C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\Excel.exe")
