Hi All, can someone give me a '101' on doing mathematics in tables please? I'm given to understand that access can't do 'calculated tables', and you have to use an 'update table' query??

I've got a table where i need to multiply the values in a recordset (no of days worked) by the pay rate, and then show the calculate value in a 3rd recordset.

at the moment it looks like this (it's a plain-data import straight from excel)

April Days Day Rate April Total
2 500 1000

Any help, much appreciated.

Regards

Russ

Hello Russ, Access doesn't do calculations in tables, it does them in queries, forms and reports. It can be done using built in functions or Visual Basic
The calculation that you have outlined is not normally stored in Access, but calculated when you need it, i.e. to show in a Form or in a report.
There are quite a few ways to achieve what you want, it would be easier to help you if you could tell us how and where you want to present the data.
