Question about resources

I am trying to make a master project that encapsulates three other subprojects together. The subprojects already have resources allocated to them, there linked, and times are perfect, the have cost assoicated with the resources. but I tried using the merge button, the main problem became the fact all three resources have a lot of same kind of tools, Like all three of projects use a hammer, I just want to know what I should do so I can just have 1 resource sheet, and the times get all jacked up when I merge them.

It looks like you want to use a shared resource pool.
Open you three projects, open a new blank project (save it witha name like "resource pool" doesn't matter really)
In your projects go to tools/shared resources (not 100%, I don't have project here at home) and select your new pool. (do this for every one of your projects.
Msproject should merge you resources together (if the name is the same)
