hiding data using other cells as reference

How should the formula be, if I want cell A2 to be equals to cell A1 and at the time, checking if cell A1 is empty or not.
If cell A1 is blank, A2 will also be. If there are data in cell A1, A2 = A1.
Data from cell A1 is a word.

Based on my limited knowledge, I have tried using "orblank" function but is unable to print the data in cell A1 into A2.
Formula in cell A2:
=if(or(isblank(a1), " ", =A1))

Is there any way to resolve this issue?

You could also set the worksheet in the options to not show zeroes.

I feel I should bow to your superior knowledge, but ...

I assume from that that he's getting a zero if the cell is blank and wants it to be blank. If the cell had a zero value, setting the option to not display zeroes would hide a valid return.

Am I missing something?

If it is always text, I guess the OP could also use =A1&"" to stop the zero value.

Nothing to bow to, it was a brief brief, and we interpret it as we do.

I too assumed that he was getting zeroes, and normally I am loathe to hide zeroes. Precisely because it was words it seemed that it might be okay in this case, it seemed to me that it was just to make the output look better that was the objective.
