Solved: "Drawing" a line during presentation

I know that I can move an object around a slide using the custom animation feature. Does anyone know how I can "Draw" a line as the object is moving?

For example: I have a "path" such as a hiking trail shown on the screen as a picture. I then take a "hiker" and move him/her along the path from one end to another using a custom animation. As the hiker moves, I would like to show the progress along the line.

The answer greatly depends on which version of PPT you are using. Please provide that and someone can help you further.

    How about this:
Group the hiker with a shape that covers the line in front of his path, then animate that group so as he moves along, the line beneath him will be revealed.

    Does that work for you?

Hmm.. you could tie the hiker animation with a wipe from left animation on the line. I attached an example file. Maybe it's more what you want.
