    running macro with "hotkey"

    is there a way of running a macro during a slide show using a hotkey such as ctrl-m?

    To my knowledge, there is not. It's not like Word or Excel where you can assign hotkeys. Macros in PowerPoint have to physically be linked to a form object, custom menu item or shape.

    Not sure if it helps but you can run a macro from the right click menu in a slide show too.
