    Absolute and Relative references

Good morning guys. I am stuck. I have tried all I know which is a little to slove the problem. Here is the problem. I am using Excel ss. I am using a formula using the IF statement. The is the first part of the IF statement.
=IF(A3="YES","Buy","No"). I want to use that same formula in the next several cells. When I do a copy, paste or paste special in the next cell the
formula changes from A3 to B3. How do I keep the formual from changing?
I have tried alll I know so can you help??
    Thanks
    Max

    Put $ around the A3 like $A$3

That will anchor the formula to that cell.

$A3 would anchor only the column

A$3 would anchor only the row.

This is covered in the help menu under Absolute and Relative formulas.

You can also press F2 (edit mode) in the formula's cell and toggle through the settings in the formula bar by pressing F4
