removing sensitive data from a word document

    Hi Guys,

Is there a way to search a document and pull out all the sensitive data like social security numbers? Thanks

Or I meant to say as you type it replaces the 123-45-6789 with xxx-xx-6789

You can add a text box to the document and then set the PasswordChar property to *.

    Not a real solution but....

What I've done in the past to redact documents, was to do a search and replace - you probably need a selective search and replace, but it would still require time.

Search and replace 1 with some other character
    Search and replace 2 with...
    and down the line.

However, if the objects you're looking for are all in the same format and style, that would be helpful. Are they all as consistent as social security numbers?
