I don't want to get picky about that subject but why does the following work?!
If I open the Immediate window and key in the following statement Excel returns the correct result:
?activecell.Value
65535

Because the underlying value is correct as explained here http://blogs.msdn.com/excel/archive/...ue-update.aspx
