    Also buying a new computer...

    So

I want a computer to do the following and do it well (nothing else really matters that much)

Use Flight Sim X (which is apparently slow running on many PC's)
Be a music recording studio ( so I'd need to be able to plug in a guitar, keyboard, mic, etc)

That's it really. So I know this sounds like a contradiction in terms - what's the cheapest best setup I can get away with that will still do a fantastic job?

    BD

(I've given up on the galaxy)

I just got a core 2 duo from Dell for under $1000. 2GB Ram and 2.6 GHz processor and it runs great. Should be able to handle whatever you can throw at it.

Good price. Did you get a choice of XP or Vista?

I ordered online so I could get XP, locally everything came with Vista. Dell has Vista (home/basic/whatever its called) and XP Home as a choice on most with no cost difference.

Then you can get XP Pro or another vista version for more $$.

Video card was a 256 nvidia, has 2 DVI outputs so that worked out great.
