hiding a property of a cell

I would like to hide a cell's property depending on a certain condition in my macro. I know how to hide the contents of a cell, but is there a way to hide the property of that i.e. for e.g. if I put a border around the cell. I would like the border to be displayed on one condition and not on the other....Please help!!

Can this not be achieved with conditional formatting or am i missing the point?
