    Solved: Define Name question

    hi,

this is not a vba question.
i need to define a range and name it "AA1" but that doesn't work.

    is there a workaround?

    Greetings Zack,

Not to be blunt, but I believe the 'workaround' is to choose a different name. As there is a native name of AA1 (ie cell AA1), even if you 'rename' the cell, Excel stills 'remembers' it.

    Sorry,

    Mark

    hi Mark,
i kinda realized that there was no workaround but i was "hoping"..
i ended up pointing the indirect to another cell which had a formula
    =IF(A2="AA1","myAA1",A2)
    i named my range "myAA1"

Just as an aside note when you let Excel name the range using the Create Name from Selection option using the top row it creates "AA1_"
