    Solved: Better understand macros

This may be a novice question but I want to know how to clean up the name of my macros. Whenever I make a macro it gives it a long thisworkbook.yada yada.whatever name but some macros that i have downloaded are just the name of the macro. How is this accomplished?

Attached a screenshot to better explain.

It is probably from another workbook that you have open. The other part of the name is the sheet name most likely. So, you would need to shorten your filename and/or sheet names as well as the macro names.

    Hi Adonaioc

when you create a macro, you are asked at that point what you want to call it.

If you have already created it you can still amend the name - probably the easiest way to amend the name is to open up Visual Basic and type a new name for the macro.
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order.

You might have a worksheet or some other Excel "thing" called 'CreatePartNumber' so the RunMacro puts in the parent names.
