    Solved: lookup the 4th characters in a cell

    in my sheet, i have what is call the work center:

    A1: 5011ua
    A2: 4322ua


    in column b, i want to know what the 4th character is:

    B1: 1
    B2: 2

    please help

    in cell B1 the formula:
    =mid(A1,4,1)
    and copy it down the column.

    Do a search for String in Excel Help and you'll find various functions you can use for getting text from a string.
