Recording web application using a macro?

Hi,

I need one information about macros.

Can we record a flow of any web application using a macro?
Actually I tried clicking "Record a macro" option. Then I opened the IE window, entered URL - Login Password & navigated throughout the web application. However it was observed that nothing got recorded.

Later I copied the URL in the excel sheet agaian started recording by clicked the link. Here I succeeded opening the application only.

Can anyone let me know how we can record the web application events?

No, because the work being done is not Excel, it is the browser. The macro recorder records Excel actions.
