Programming excel with .net

I have installed Microsoft visual studio 6.0 in my system.I am trying to programming excel with .net
I have a tutorial regarding this and trying to develop a new applicayion.As i am new in this area
Can my visual studio 6.0 support to develop programming excel with .net.
Please suugest me is there any patch up or support file available that enhance visual studio 6.0 into
Visual Studio .NET Tools for Office.
PLease advise the supporting software or tools and the source to find it easily that accomplish my need?
Actually i want to learn programming excel with .Net.

Is there free version of s/w is available?
