Solved: Copy and paste as an object

Hi,

When I copy a range of cells to another workbook and try to do paste special it brings up a paste object dialog rather than the normal paste special (i.e. values). It then tries to paste the range with formulas starting =EMBED

If I use another workbook as the source it works fine

Has anyone ever seen this before and could tell me why it is happening

Hi Phil,

This happens when you are trying to Paste Special between workbooks that are in two different sessions of excel.

Ensure both files are open in the same session (i.e. you can select one from the other via the Window menu) and try again.
