Solved: Registration of a dll file

    Dear readers,

I have made a dll file for MS Outlook. The file is rgistered by regsvr32.exe.
If I try to connect the file to Outlook 2003 it is not possible. (extra / options / advanced options / COM input)

Colleagues are suggesting for first registering the dll file with the help of a reg file

Is there a possibility that the dll file first have to be registered and if yes, how do I create such a .reg file?

    Nice regards,

    Michelle.

    Hi Michelle,

Been a while since I've build a com addin in VB6 so can only help you partialy!

A DLL needs to be registerd to Windows registry you've done this yet by regsvr32 (if you had the succes msgbox that is)

Further more you need to register it to every Office app you want it to work whit!
You can read all about that here: (And more COM ADDIN stuff)
    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=238228

Normally a com addin would be installed by a MSI setup installer that would take care of all that stuff you're doing by hand now.

    Good luck!
