    Excel & MS Query

    Hi,

I'm just dipping my toes into the use of MS Query and Excel and have a general question.

Does the source need to remain in the same location, or can it move with the spreadsheet it feeds into? I suspect not.

Does it have the potential to create an Excel based tool that will allow a low to moderately skilled user of Excel to query data?

My hope would be to create a tool that would allow data (e.g. monthly) to be updated, and from which dynamic charts, etc can be used.

    Many thanks.

If you changed the source, you would need to update the query.

What if the source and output are in the same workbook? I take it the query is based on the full path of the source? Hence, if the source moves, the path changes and the query fails?
