    xlt question

    Howdy,

I made a template from a file and here's my problem. When I doubleclick in Windows Explorer, the file opens with the '1' on the end (which is how its supposed to work). However, if I go through the Excel Open dialog, the actual template file opens. This defeats the purpose since most users will open the file this way. Did I do something wrong?

    I appreciate any help.

    Thanks

I am not sure what is the reasoning behind this but Try to save the template in Microsoft Template Folder
    C:\.......\ AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates

By doing this , it should solve your concern.

    Agreed,
Templates should be accessed using File/New
    MVP (Excel 2008-2010)

Post a workbook with sample data and layout if you want a quicker solution.
