Hints, Tips, Suggestions On Office 2002

I am in the process of writing a book on Office 2002 Certification. I want it to cover all of the way up to Master so I have to cover all apps - Outlook, Access, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. I am looking for any hints, tips, and suggestions that could be helpful in getting certified (either Specialist or Expert level).

Hi Stephen,

Certified by whom, Microsoft? There are practice tests out there, demos for free (although only about 5 questions), but for the Microsoft tests, if you're looking to practice almost all of them are $40 - $60 just to practice. Then there's certification fees. Personally I'd suggest doing some online training of some sort, perusing around free forums like this one, attending chats like we're having (This Sunday with GP George) as they're great places to pick the "guru's" brains.

When I wanted to have an idea of the contents of the Outlook test I had a hard time finding some reading material. At least at a less than $50 pricetag.

The book I am writing covers all of the Specialist and Expert tests. I finished the Outlook section, took the test, and got a 950 out of 1000. Of course, many years of using Outlook and writing my book (due out in less than two weeks) - "Link Em Up On Outlook" helped quite a bit.

Now that the Access section is finished I will go through it a few times and take the test on Access.

I believe it will be a good resource.

I've heard about your book, Dreaboat highly recommends it (as in regards to your knowledge), so I look forward to reading it - I stray from Outlook as I know nothing of it, I use Outlook as an Object from Excel more than I use Outlook itself, it scares me, lol.

There are sights out there, which you can get to from the microsoft testing page(s), which have free Access 'practice' tests. If you'd like to try it out and can't find the site, post back and I'll try and knab it for ya.

Thanks. I have looked at many of them. As you noticed, the only freebies have five or fewer questions on them.

My original "power" usage of Outlook was integrating Visual Foxpro with it in regards to email, calendar, and tasks. Would you happen to know of any sports assigners? If so, they should look at my "Booking Agent" software. It is highly integrated with Outlook (through direct OL calls) and to any other MAPI-compliant email client through MAPIMail commands.

"Grover Park George On Access," Dreamboat On Word," and "Mr Excel On Excel" are all from Holy Macro Books. My goal for book sales is 100,000 books. Possible? Yes. Likely? Maybe not. It is good to have high goals.

My wife would like to see everyone in our small town buy a copy because it mentions Lucama. They even spelled it right!!!!

By the way, I emailed over 950 news releases across thirteen states. If I get only a third of those in print and fifty copies sold per release printed that will be an instant 15,000 copies sold. Another dream that could come true.

And I think it's an awesome goal! It's my plan to own DB, yours, GP George and Bill Jelen's books. Plus I want to learn more about other Office programs, and not just Excel. In order to help more people, I'm going to have to learn to integrate (and assimilate) back and forth. Plus it makes the experience that more dynamic/easier/funner. (Is funner a word? LOL)

Yep. The big ole' town of Lucama. We are approx fifty miles west of Raleigh.

It is interesting who you meet when you go to MS stuff, though. I met a guy who knew where Lucama is and works with one of our church members. This was an event in Raleigh. Quite interesting conversation with him.

Did you ever watch The Andy Griffith Show? Although the town of Mayberry was fictional at that time, we have a town officially called Mayberry here in NC. According to the descriptions given on the show, they are pretty close to Mount Pilot, Raleigh, and the other real cities mentioned.
