    Writing a macro within an exel document

    I know there is a way to write a macro within an excel document, and in theory place "buttons or "search bars" etc..in the document. Please see the attached worksheet. In sheet 2, I would like to be able to place buttons in the sheet. The first button would say "Municipals" and when I clicked it, all the trades with the security type (column H) were "mbus" or "zcus" would be present and below would be a graph of the brokers and quantities for only municipals.

    So is there a way to get started with that and then I can hope to figure out the rest?

    Thanks the help!

    If you create a pivot table then a pivot chart, the chart will update automatically as you filter the pivot - no code required.

    I tried the following setup:
    Page/Report Filter = Security Type
    Row = Broker
    Values = Sum of Quantity

    We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit.
