    only local SQL databases?

    I had originally posted this in the Excel Help forum, where I thought it belonged, but there it was suggested that I post it here, so it here it is:

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    I know that Excel can access local SQL databases via VBA & PowerPivot, but can it also access online SQL databases?

    Maybe but you would need permissions.
    Peace of mind is found in some of the strangest places.

    I would assume it could connect remotely to a SQL database.

    It is ODBC driven, isn't it???

    Maybe???

    The only gotcha that I can think of is what is known as the 'double hop'

    If you are connecting to one remote server, and trying to authenticate to another remote server via the first one, you won't have the permissions to access the second remote server
