Referencing a column in AVERAGEIFS function in excel

    Hi,

I am looking for help with AVERAGEIFS function.

I am using a formula AVERAGEIFS(average_range,criteria_range1,criteria1,criteria_range2,criteria2). Now, the problem is my 'average_range' is itself varying depending on another condition i.e average_range changes across 4 different columns depending on a variable which can take any of 4 values provided in another cell. Is there anyway I can make my average_range dynamic (average_range here is an excel column)

Apologies if the question is too silly but I am unable to figure out a way

    Thanks,
    Aravind

Perhaps you can wrap the relevant argument in a CHOOSE or INDEX function?
