    horizantal total

    In the attached book, on the left, displays the total for each year. Cell A4 (and subsequently the years below) are automatically update as the years pass. May I receive some assistance developing a formula that will look within each year to update the total amounts for that year. Thanks

    =SUMPRODUCT(--(YEAR($D$2:$EI$2)=$A4),$D$3:$EI$3)

    Hi XLD...the sum is display 0. Any ideas? I thought maybe I need to enter the formula using Shift-Enter, but that didn't work.

    No it doesn't need Ctrl-Shift-Enter, it is not an array formula. I tested it on your worksheet and it worked here, as shown below.

    My bad!!! I'm not sure what happened, but I'm pretty sure I goofed it up somehow. Thank you. It works. :-)
