find values in msproject and replace with values in excel

hello all, new to this forum.
I have a task that I'm not sure if possible.
I have a ms project template with many placeholders.
goal is to find the placeholders and replace with values from and excel table.
any help or advice is appreciated.

This is coming up on a month old so I don't know if you still need help, but it can be done. You need to provide much more detail about what the placeholders are (what fields they are in), what indicates that they are placeholders (special text?), how the Excel file is organized, and how to map the Excel content to the placeholders. Would help to attach the template, and the Excel file.

thanks for the reply. I have managed to make this work very well in excel finding placeholder in one separate workbook and replacing with those from another.
I export the project to excel, make the swaps and import back to project.
I was just looking to see if I could eliminate the project/import/export step.
placeholders are excel and project values surrounded by "()".
