I am using a Name Manager to populate a cell with a drop down but when you use the data validation on it and try the drop down all that populates the list is the Name Manager name. My formula is:
[vba]=OFFSET(Lists!$D$5,,,COUNTA(Lists!$D$5:$D$7))[/vba]

prefix the Name in Source field in the Data Validation dialogue box with an = sign
